Healthcare is about doctors treating patients. Maximizing the doctor's time while seeing patients is the goal. We analyze the three parts of your practice flow - patient, staff and doctor - to identify and help your practice achieve your ultimate potential.
A medical facility is a place for people to get care. All too often things disturb the smooth flow of healthcare to patients. Delays happen due to appointment scheduling that is out of sync with the flow of the staff and doctors, doctors getting pulled off track performing non doctor tasks, and information not being readily available. These are only a few issues that Practice Flow Solutions typically discovers.
In today's environment of increased demand, increasing cost and reimbursement not keeping pace, it is more important than ever to have efficient flow systems to maximize the doctors` time and eliminate the delays in providing care. Our Practice Flow Assessment analyzes your current practice flow to identify obstacles that keep the doctors from caring for patients and gives solutions to correct the flow patterns.
We provide you a questionnaire to complete that compiles current data on patient volume, services rendered, staffing model in place, doctors and extenders caring for patients, and the space where care is being provided.
Once you receive the questionnaire and have reviewed it, we have a meeting/conference call with you and key staff gathering the data. This is to discuss how the data needs to be gathered, the importance of that data, and to get input from those working in the practice.
After we receive the data we have another meeting/conference call to review the data.
The length of time required to complete Stage I is greatly influenced by how long it will take you to complete the questionnaire and we all to coordinate schedules. This stage typically takes about 2 weeks.
This is the hands on portion of the assessment where our consultants spend time in your facility. While in the practice we will be having conversations with staff to learn their perspective, meeting with the doctors and management to learn the growth plans and other items that need to be addressed, and observing flow patterns of the patient, staff, and doctors.
While observing we perform time and motion studies to determine the magnitude of the flow obstacles and how exactly the patients', staff, and doctors` time is being consumed. The flow of information, instructions, and equipment is also observed to determine how the handling of these affects patients getting care in a timely manner.
